The Music of Giacomo Puccini will launch Sarasota Opera’s 2023-2024 mainstage season. The concert will be conducted by Sarasota Opera artistic director and principal conductor Victor DeRenzi and will continue the opera’s partnership with the Sarasota Orchestra. Soloists include Sarasota Opera sopranos Hanna Brammer and Erica Petrocelli, tenors Rafael Dávila and Christopher Oglesby. Baritone Jean Carlos Rodriguez will be making his company debut with this concert.

The program will feature arias and ensembles from each of Puccini's 12 operas. Selections will include some audience favorites, like “Vissi d’arte” from Tosca, the "Love Duet" from Madama Butterfly, and the ever-popular “Nessun dorma” from Turandot. However, audiences will also hear excerpts from Puccini's lesser-known operas like Le Villi and Edgar—the only two Puccini operas that haven’t been performed by Sarasota Opera.

The rest of the Sarasota Opera's season includes The Little Sweep, performed by Sarasota Youth Opera, Georges Bizet's Carmen, Gaetano Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, Verdi's Luisa Miller and Hadyn's Deceit Outwitted.
