For 55 years, this organization has created partnerships to enhance the quality of life in Sarasota by focusing on early childhood development and homelessness. Its main events are the three-day “Thunder by the Bay” kickoff party in January at Michael’s on East, and the 2004 Tocqueville National Leaders Weekend, March 18-21, 2004, at The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota. The National Alexis de Tocqueville Society, created by United Way in 1972, recognizes outstanding volunteer service.
