Noted museum planners and exhibition designers, Vincent and Julie Ciulla have been restoring Paul Rudolph’s Umbrella House on Lido Shores since they acquired the modernist icon five years ago. They’ve furnished the inside with classic mid-century pieces and artwork, and outside, they’ve returned Rudolph’s groundbreaking sun roof design (the "umbrella") to its original form. The couple frequently welcomes international architects and students eager to see the 20th-century landmark. But the home also boasts a relaxed, barefoot atmosphere suitable for visiting grandchildren. "It’s just such a gem, so beautifully done," says Vincent. "And the response to what we’ve done here has been so positive."
