Sarasota’s Rosemary District is home to some of the hippest eateries, shops and galleries in town. Explore vintage treasures at neighborhood mainstays, Everything But the Girl and Architectural Salvage, or find modern treasures at iconic home emporiums Sarasota Collection and Home Resource. Join the Longboat Key crowd lining up for ballroom dancing with world-class champion Sid Pocius at the new Empire Ballroom Studios. Browse internationally acclaimed art at Chicago dealer Kathleen Bernhardt’s new gallery on Fifth Street. Then discover up-and-comers like Ringling College’s freshman Taylor Craig, whose paintings sell out instantly at Madeby, the school-run gallery featuring works by students and alums. The Rosemary District even boasts its own community dance company: the West Coast Civic Ballet.

The Naked Truth Everything is stripped to its organic essence at the floral design studio of Roger Capote (above). He uses only pesticide-free organic flowers, composts all leftover trimmings and sells wonderful eco-friendly soy-based candles (from $32). The Naked Florist, 425 Central Ave., (941) 312-6962.

Modern Swan Arne Jacobsen’s 1958 Swan chair is an all-time Danish modern favorite ($3,678). Now you can try it out at Home Resource, the exclusive new Sun Coast retailer for Fritz Hansen’s iconic furniture. Home Resource, 741 Central Ave., (941) 366-6690.

Conversation Pieces A cult following is buzzing about the unique necklaces decorated with watch faces, old latch keys or even drawer pulls (from $55) by a local crafter who calls herself C.A.B. Fayre. Check out her vintage evening bags with appliqués from apothecary bottles to hand grenades (from $40). Everything But the Girl, 430 Central Ave., (941) 954-8800.

Ripple Effect The new home accessories department at Sarasota Collection is such a hit, designers Pam and Marcus Anast just expanded into tabletop with the same luxe Ripple Collection found at ABC Carpet in New York. Sarasota Collection, 622 Central Ave., (941) 955-8313.

Zensational! The elegant spa treatments at Pure are rivaled only by the calming lotions, aromatherapy candles and dreamy at-home wear by Susan Beischel for Skin (organic cotton lounge dress is $295). Pure, 513 Central Ave., (941) 364-5800.

Recycling Time Lori Frary represents intriguing artists (don’t miss the life-size Andy Warhol figures by Jack Dowd, each $7,900). The clocks she makes from old picture frames and scraps from local framing shops are the timeliest of treasures ($1,500). Frary Gallery, 1419 Fifth St., (941) 227-0014.
