This week, my favorite people and my favorite activities mix into one happy jumble.

What do you do when the thermometer sets up camp at 88? Pack up your toys and go to the beach. That’s what CCB and I did on Saturday, anyway, and for real: football, paddleball, kite, shovel, masks, books—we do enjoy our entertainment accessories.

Of course, Anna Maria’s beaches are closer to our Bradenton abode—and I really do like those chill beaches—but I had a craving for a St. Armands stroll, too, so we made a day of it: Lunch on Lido, a bit of shopping on the Circle, a nice easy drive down Longboat, and then a stop at Lee Roy Selmon’s on the way up Cortez to catch the first round of the NFL draft. Talk about your perfect day.

This week is shaping up to be pretty entertaining, too. Tonight, CCB has his first training session at Uppercut Boxing (his prize from Club Forty’s silent auction). But Thursday is when things really get going: I’m making it an all-out Asolo day, seeing The Winter’s Tale matinee, grabbing dinner at the Flying Dog, and then heading back to see Murderers Thursday night. Best of all, thanks to Mrs. Harrible, half the Revolution hockey team will be at Murderers (apparently a lot of the guys are using a night at the theater as a way to get in good with their wives). That should be…interesting. They’ve already suggested an addition to my mother’s pre-show recording: “Please open all beverages before the start of the show.” I’m thinking an account of that marathon play-watching day will be my next entry on Friday.

Friday evening will be kickball as usual, then Saturday the Revolution are getting together again for our annual volleyball outing, either at Bee Ridge Park or Siesta Key Beach. Then Sunday, the SH-T Kickers are having a get-together of their own—in Ellenton to watch the Revolution game. All my worlds are colliding. It’s going to be pretty cool.
