America’s Race may be the “Greatest Two Minutes in Sports,” but the Kentucky Derby is more than a race. It’s a tradition – and an excellent reason for a party! Break out the hats!

Arrive at the handsome Varsity Club to a Mint Julep and “Vote” for your favorite horse. We will have the official Kentucky Derby programs and racing forms to follow along just as we would at the track! Coverage on large screen TV’s of the horses going to the gate and all the pre-race excitement will begin at 5:30PM, with the race at 6:00PM. Paying homage to the traditional derby menu, Kentucky Hot Browns will be served along with other hors d’oeuvres and a mini
Kentucky Derby Pie for dessert.

Wearing a hat to the Kentucky Derby is believed to bring the wearer good luck. This long-established fashion started with women. However, many men take part in this tradition, also.

Please bring cash if you wish to participate in “voting” for your favorite horse. 

Traditional Attire for Ladies – Colorful Sundress and Hat. Typically, women wear wide-brimmed, Southern Belle inspired hats.

Traditional Attire for Gentlemen – Casual Slacks and Button-Down Shirt With Tie (Optional)
