APPLES

If you haven’t heard of Get Fit Fuel yet, here’s the lowdown:  They make it easy for you to eat healthy.  Each pre-made meal is prepared with the freshest, leanest ingredients, low sodium and sugar, no artificial flavoring, and healthy fats like olive and sesame oils and nuts. Plus, they all register low on the glycemic index.  It’s basically grab-’n-go health food designed by owner Greg Gentile, whose passion has been food and service in Sarasota for more than 30 years. Here, he gives us some insight Get Fit Fuel…

What’s the concept behind Get Fit Fuel?

Healthy, gourmet, portioned foods to go.

I’m pretty jazzed that you’ll be serving raw food. Why was that important to add to your menu?

There is a demand for raw food, and we are directly meeting the desires of our customers. Raw food blends seamlessly into every diet plan–gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan, paleo, low cholesterol, and the standard American diet. For some, raw food is a lifestyle, but most of our customers enjoy raw food as an alternative or addition to their diets because it’s a great way for them to meet their nutritional goals.

What will you be serving in terms of raw food?

Starting next week, look for wraps and sandwiches, eggplant Parmesan, kale salad, cookies, even hot dogs or fish and chips! Our raw menu will be dynamic, always changing and exciting. We’ll feature natural and locally grown organic produce, nuts and seeds, and sprouts. We can’t wait!

coldpressed-vs-centrifugal

I heard you’ve added a cold-press juicer to the kitchen–what makes cold press different from other juicing appliances?

Cold-press juicers help preserve the nutrients and vitamins in our juices by keeping the processing temperature low. Some juicers actually heat juices during processing, killing vitamins. Best of all, cold-press juicers yield better tasting juice!

Who’s the chef behind your raw food kitchen?

Our raw food chef is Karen Noble, formerly the chef at Ionie’s Raw Food Cafe. Her raw food made many fans, and we know she’ll do the same here.

Anything I didn’t ask that’s important for the healthy reader to know?

We have a new menu coming out September 20. Our focus is on keeping it fresh and healthy everyday, and our new menu will be fantastic! We will also have our [regular] full menu, including our specials, raw and paleo meals and all our fresh juices and smoothies available on line for delivery or pick up from our store. And we will be opening our second location in Lakewood Ranch December 1 (in front of Publix).
