I spotted the stylish Cheryl Lasris Gordon while dining alfresco at State Street Eating House. She was so incredibly well-put together that I struck up a conversation and handed her my card for this blog.
What I admire most about the style of this highly successful attorney and partner at Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick is her easygoing aesthetic that’s so smartly styled, especially in a business where a matching suit is de rigueur. Cheryl pairs on-trend yet classic pieces, like her YSL patent Tribute pumps, fabulous Peter Pilotto scarf and gorgeous jewels by Ippolita. So chic!
“I am a born and raised Floridian from Jacksonville, Florida. I am a die-hard Gator fan with three degrees from the University of Florida. To a great extent I feel like I really had it all. I could not live in a more beautiful community. I have had a long and fullfilling career with essentially one group of lawyers now known as Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, and most importantly I have a wonderful husband and two fabulous daughters. In my spare time I work out a lot (currently a big Pure Barre fan), watch a lot of sports and am planning a wedding for my oldest daughter.”
What She Does:
“I arrived in Sarasota fresh out of law school in 1980 and joined the law firm when it was only seven attorneys. What a great decision that was. My legal practice has been great. I enjoy helping people with their business issues or estate plans. I have clients that have been with me since the day I started work. Those long-term relationships are so rewarding, and are what makes it much more worthwhile to practice here rather than in a big city.
“I have been involved in many charitable organizations in our community throughout the years and assisted many of them in obtaining their tax exempt status. Currently I am Chairman of the Board of the Education Foundation of Sarasota County, a wonderful organization that provides assistance to the public school system to provide funds and support for projects, programs and items that cannot be covered by the public school budget. It’s a great feeling to see how our efforts go to helping students and teachers.”
What She’s Wearing:
“Today I am wearing my usual, a black dress, colorful scarf and heels. After 25 years of wearing suits, hose and pumps, I now wear only dresses and sandals. I am wearing a St. John dress, Peter Pilotto scarf, YSL sandals, Ippolita jewelry and carrying a bag from my favorite line, Celine.”
