So far my venture into a new decade is pretty freakin’ awesome.

Thanks so much for all the warm birthday wishes. It was great to see so many friends Saturday night and hear from so many more over the course of the weekend. (For those of you who couldn’t make this party or Kegtacular in two weeks, we’re now in the preliminary planning stages for Chrappy Christmas, so let us know now what December date works best for you.)
I could say a lot more about how fantastic the weekend was, but I think this picture speaks for itself:
A kitten and a kegerator, courtesy of CCB (via the Humane Society and Craigslist, respectively). The kitten’s name is CJ, in honor of Allison Janney’s character on The West Wing. (We call the kegerator Bruce.) Also in the birthday haul were fancy soaps, a hedge trimmer, a subscription to Rolling Stone, a William Shakespeare action figure and a dominant performance by the Revolution, winning 11-1 in last night’s season opener—including a goal and an assist by yours truly. Looks like 30 suits my athletic career just fine.
In that vein, tune in tomorrow for a look at my latest strategy to keep in shape and ward off old age: punching stuff.
