Sarasota County Schools this week announced several upper-level leadership changes for the 2021-2022 school year. Assistant superintendent/chief academic officer Dr. Laura Kingsley will retire at the end of this school year and Chris Renouf, current executive director of elementary schools, has been appointed as her replacement. Brandon Johnson, current principal of North Port High School, has been named the next executive director of elementary schools.

Dr. Harriet Moore has also been named the district's first director of innovation and equality. In her new role, she will be facilitating the implementation of cultural responsibility and training throughout the district; chairing the District Equity Committee; and guiding innovative approaches to different instructional delivery models—including virtual, blended, and face-to-face learning—for students, among other key responsibilities. She is currently the principal of McIntosh Middle School.
