Annual 'Stand Down' Event for Homeless Veterans Takes Place June 26

The event provides an array of services for veterans, including medical checkups, benefit reviews and amnesty court.

JFCS of the Suncoast's annual Stand Down event for homeless veterans will take at the Sarasota County Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 26 from 8 a.m.-noon. The event provides an array of services for veterans, including medical checkups, benefit reviews and amnesty court. JFCS is asking the local community to support this community outreach initiative by both volunteering and donating clothing, toiletries and additional essentials. 

Annually, JFCS collaborates with more than 25 community partners to provide direct support to more than 100 homeless veterans. This year’s confirmed community partners are All Faiths Food Bank, American Red Cross, CareerSource Suncoast, the City of Sarasota, Coastal Behavioral Healthcare, First Step of Sarasota, the Florida Department of Veteran Affairs, Florida Veterans for Common Sense, Goodwill Manasota, Harvest House, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) Military Dental, Legal Aid of Manasota, Operation ECO Vets, Sarasota County Government, Sarasota Elks #2495 (Infinite Heroes), Sarasota Police Department, Sarasota Veterans Commission, Suncoast Continuum of Care, Sports Clips, Suncoast Partnership to End Homelessness, The Salvation Army of Sarasota County, The Street Dog Coalition (Bay Road Animal Hospital), Turning Points, VA Partners and Vet Court.
