Joshua Goodman, a sixth-generation Floridian, has been selected as Sarasota County's new historical resources manager, a position that is part of the Libraries and Historical Resources Department (LHR). He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in history from Florida State University, and earned his Ph.D. in history from Tulane University in New Orleans.

Previously, Goodman served for six years as the archives historian at the State Archives of Florida in Tallahassee, where he managed the digitization of historical records for the award-winning Florida Memory Program. He also worked for the National World War II Museum in New Orleans while finishing his doctorate. In his new role, he will work to digitize photos and historical records and make collections at the Sarasota County History Center easier for the public to access.
