I came across this house Sunday while checking out some open houses and almost didn’t go in. From the outside it’s nice but not all that special, although the big yard and location at the end of a dead end street set it apart. But when I stepped inside I went “Wow.”
It was like I was back at my grandparents’ house in Michigan. Every inch of the interior is covered with wood paneling – cypress, knotty pine, and pecan wood. The floors, the walls, even the ceilings. It was built back in 1954 by a contractor/master carpenter, and it’s all custom work, beautifully done. And everywhere you look there are built-ins and cubby-holes. Each of the two bedrooms has built-in bureaus and the living room has a built in desk.
And keep in mind: there are some incredible bargains around town at the moment. You can actually get a nice condo in a good area for under $50,000. Don’t believe me?
There are several one-bedroom units in Village Brooke (3245 Beneva Road) for $49,000 or thereabouts. Almost 700 square feet, and a pleasant complex with pools and tennis.
