Siesta Key is full of million dollar homes, but this beauty is something special. It’s got a style and elegance that leaves most of the others in the dust. HGTV certainly thinks so—they were planning to feature it on an upcoming segment on “Live Here Buy This” until a scheduling conflict got in the way.

It’s located just south of mid-key on 6957 Belgrave Drive, on a canal that leads to Sarasota Bay. Set on almost half an acre, with 120 feet of waterfront, it’s big and roomy, with four bedrooms and three baths in 3,200 square feet. The interior has been renovated recently, with great attention to giving it a crisp, modern but hardly minimal look. The floors in the main living areas are mostly marble, with lots of windows and French doors that lead to the spectacular outdoor spaces.

It’s the swimming pool that really gives the house its personality. It has a sort of South Beach-meets-Zen-garden vibe. There’s a 41-foot-long area that’s designed for swimming laps (saltwater and heated), plus several auxiliary offshoots, almost like a very sophisticated mini-water park. In the center is a seating area. The property is walled, giving you privacy and great play space for pets and kids.

The mechanical systems are mostly new, with a galvanized metal roof and non-impact windows and doors. And it’s a short walk from Siesta Beach.

But if you’re starting to salivate, I just got some bad news. I just called the realtor (and owner) Jeannie McDermott (Premiere Sotheby’s; 941-400-3551), and it’s just gone under contract. (The listing price was $1,000,000.) Oh, well, there’s always another house. But this one is so pretty we’re running it anyway.
