Sooner or later, everybody lives in Southgate. It’s the perfect Sarasota neighborhood—a great location, affordable, and able to accommodate any lifestyle, from families to retirees to single young professionals. And its classic Florida ranches from the ’50s and ’60s have great bones and are easy to update.
Here’s a particularly charming example, remodeled enough to bring it up to speed but with many period details still intact. Among them: a nice retro kitchen, the original baths (still in great shape), a wood-paneled bedroom (or office/den), and a lanai with a Franklin stove.
You’ll also find real wood floors in the living area, a third bath in the garage (just one car, unfortunately) and a particularly nice back yard. The home has three bedrooms in 1,777 square feet.
The problem with so many Southgate remodels is that they’ve had the mid-century charm taken away, replaced with a generic “Home Depot” look. Not this one. It’s bright, sunny, and the real thing.
Address is 2441 Foster Lane. Priced at $214,900. For more info, call Jacqueline Bell of Coldwell Banker at (941) 320-1700.
