By staff May 1, 2005

More than 140 pugs from all over the country showed up to compete in this year's eighth annual Pug Parade, joined by hundreds more egging them on from the sidelines. ABC7 anchorman Ken Jefferson served as grand marshal, and Jimmy Dean emceed the judging. Winning prizes this year were: Paco (Most Physically Fit), Miranda (Best Costume), Honeydew (Best Curled Tail), Mo (Mr. Congeniality) and Olive (Best of Show).

Co-sponsored by SARASOSTA Magazine, Lakewood Ranch and Abode Real Estate, the parade got curly tails wagging as the canines socialized, played games and begged for hot dogs and pizza. This was the biggest and best Pug Parade ever, with proceeds beneftting the Sarasota County Humane Society. Can't wait until next year!
