Friends in Need

By staff September 1, 2005

Welcome to our annual compilation of more than 200 charitable organizations in the greater Sarasota area. They all contribute to the enormous richness of this region through the programs and services they provide our needy.

And when I say needy, I mean every one of us. Rich, poor, upscale, downscale, no-scale, educated, disabled, warrior or worker, retiree or high school junior, white-collar or no collar-we are all in need.

Some are in need of the cultural treasures we possess in this town, some are needy for the programs our human service organizations provide. Some are simply in need of others, but don't know where or how to find them.

That's our job. And we take it very seriously each year in preparing this special issue. In collaboration with the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, we welcome you to SARASOTA Magazine's Charity Register, a comprehensive overview of the Sarasota area's philanthropic community. We work on this issue year-round, and we strive to be inclusive. If we have overlooked anything, please drop us a note.

Inclusion in the register is provided completely free of charge to qualified 501(c)3 organizations with open-to-the-public outreach programs, events and services.

Our month-by-month charitable events calendar is another priceless service this issue provides. Use it to plan your year. And don't worry if there's a calendar change; you can find up-to-the-minute listings online at www.sarasotamagazine.com at the Master Calendar.

So whatever your level of need, we are honored to serve you with this special volume. Please use it.and share!
