Jazz is Back

By Beau Denton January 1, 2007

jazzjuvenocracy.jpgFollwing this summer's whirlwind European tour, Jazz Juvenocracy (our summer issue's Noisemaker) is kicking off a new season of weekly gigs at the Irish Rover this Sunday, August 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. Their Europe trip included the world-famous Montreux Jazz Festival, a rooftop jam session with an Australian big band, snowball fights in the Swiss Alps, and a security escort after the crowd at Italy’s Umbria Jazz Festival responded with raucous enthusiasm to the band’s improvised funk-fusion jazz set.

After all the standing ovations and encores, the band received an open invitation to return to the festival in Montreux—and they plan to go back next summer. But first they've come home to share the excitement with their Sarasota fans and treat us to another year of great music. Head out to the Irish Rover to hear a long-time favorite or something new, and maybe even a story about Europe.
