A retro gem in Bayshore Gardens—and at a retro price.

Can I get arrested for selling real estate without a license? I sure hope not, because here goes:
My friend Laurel’s mother passed away recently and the heirs (Laurel’s brothers) want to sell the house immediately. They don’t even want to come to Florida. They just want to get rid of it, no matter what loss they take.

Now, the thing is, it’s a wonderful house. It’s in Bayshore Gardens and is one of the nicest places in the whole subdivision. It’s on a premium corner lot and is barely 10 minutes from downtown Sarasota. It’s a great old 1950s concrete block home, very solid, three bedrooms, two baths, large living room, one enclosed and one air-conditioned lanai, one screened lanai. The AC is good and relatively new. It has a carport. Nice terrazzo floors.
Drawbacks: It’s had only two owners and is a little shabby. It still has the original kitchen, complete with ‘50s wall oven. But it needs no structural changes, just cosmetics, and is original enough to become the cutest ‘50s retro re-do in town. Conversely, it could also be “modernized” very cheaply.
Now I know there are no more flippers. They’ve all committed suicide or are in debtors prison. But if there are any left, here’s the perfect property. And if you’re looking for a place for yourself that’s stylish, convenient, and a steal—voila. How cheap is it? Let’s just say the brothers are ready to seriously undercut the price of any similar home. We’re talking mid 100s.
