Fashion Statement

By staff January 1, 2008

What are you wearing?

Prada boots with side-buckle detail, Roberto Cavalli “painted canvas” jeans, a long tie-at-the-neck shirt with a peacoat-inspired sweater, both by Banana Republic.

You were obviously a model. What agency?

Ford, but I traveled a lot and it got too much once I had two children [with husband, State Rep. Doug Holder].

Who influenced you?

I always get ideas from Dolce Gabbana, Cavalli and more recently Chanel.

What will you add to your wardrobe this season?

Some new Tory Birch boots are really beautiful, and Mui Mui has ballet flats with a peep toe and a gemstone brooch that I just love.

What wouldn’t you be caught dead in?

Something very low-cut. I prefer subtlety.

What is your fashion trademark?

I like to dress up, but I’m mindful of fitting in wherever I am. We moved here from West Palm Beach, and I dressed up more there—lots of skin and sparkle is the norm. But Sarasota is more laid-back, so I’m not as edgy here.

What are your favorite beauty products?

Natura Bisse moisturizer gives skin a beautiful glow even if you’re not wearing make-up.

How do you stay in shape?

I run almost every day, as much to clear my head and for stress release as to stay in shape.

Where do you shop?

Here, I’d say Saks. I’d buy all my clothes in Europe if I could because they really cut for tall women. The Neiman’s in West Palm is an amazing store and Rhythm [in West Palm] is one of my favorite boutiques. I’m still discovering boutiques in Sarasota. L. Boutique and Lotus are both good.

What do you like best about Sarasota?

We love the laid-back lifestyle. It’s so family friendly.
