Fashion Statement: Margaret Moore

By staff March 1, 2008

What are you wearing? A striped Missoni dress, black Jimmy Choo heels, a Salvatore Ferragamo bag and a hot-pink wrap that I got in New York City on the street.

What are your favorite brands? I love Diane von Furstenberg, Nanette Lepore and Catherine Malandrino, and Theory is great for basics.

Where do you shop? I just moved here from New York. When I lived there I would usually go to Saks for classic staple pieces and down to the East Village for funkier, less expensive things to add on. Here, I like Jane and The Met, and I’m really, really pleased with the jeans department at Saks.

What influences your style? I grew up in Connecticut, and so my style is very New England, very classic. I was also a ballet dancer for a long time, so being aware of lines and keeping things simple and clean is important to me.

What beauty products do you use? I just bought new make-up—I went to the Southgate mall and bought a bunch of things at the Mac store. As far as skincare, I use Kiehl’s face cream. I’m also addicted to Carmax chapstick—I use it as lip gloss.

Do you have a signature look? Ever since high school, I’ve always loved wearing jeans and a white T-shirt. It goes back to the whole classic look.

How do you stay in shape? Ballet kept me in shape, and in New York I did a lot of walking. I’m looking to find a new activity here.

What’s your favorite thing about Sarasota? I love exploring—going to Burns Court or walking around downtown. This is a very sophisticated city that’s mixed with really nice people. That combination makes it special, and it filters out into pretty much every aspect of life
