Bananarama

By staff November 3, 2008

Ah, Halloween. There are no words. But there are pictures. And video.

Friday morning, I greet Copy Editor Megan in the parking lot.

And then? We make our entrance.

The Banana Has Landed.

Fortunately, we were not the only ones in costume. As you saw in the video, Fairy Princess Copy Editor Megan flew alongside the Banana, and John Oates himself was there to greet us.

The Fairy Princess, John Oates and the Banana. We fight crime. And monkeys.

But after the initial excitement, it was just another day at the office...

Banana at rest (and on the phone).

Of course, the art department wasn't done being creative. With a little Photoshop magic (yeah, we were all hard at work), John Oates himself created the branding.

Hannah Banana, in the peel.

Copy Editor Fairy Princess Megan and I even summoned up the courage to eat lunch in public--and al fresco to boot. Here I am at C'est La Vie, attempting to look nonchalant.

The best part? When some smartass kid ran up shouting, "Hey, can I eat you?" Passersby who weren't already staring turned their attention to me. I couldn't help but snap, "No, but you can bite me." That shut him up. Ooh, that banana's got a mouth on her, yes she does.

After work, I continued earning amused ovations when I sauntered up to the bar and ordered a beer, full-banana, at Flying Dog. That was where I met my parents for dinner. I don't think they've ever been so proud.
