When Julie Kleinkopf took over the decorating helm at Tom and Judy Siegfried’s 15,000-square-foot Point Crisp home on Siesta Key, she knew she wanted to maximize the spectacular water views. "The house is situated on the tip of a peninsula with water on three sides, so it feels as if you’re living on a boat," says Kleinkopf, owner of Julie Kleinkopf’s Instyle Design. "The interiors were all beige and brown, and my goal was to create a color scheme that harmonized with the waterscape outside."

The owners are delighted with the one-off look and subtle mix of contemporary and traditional décor. "Julie’s palette of blues, golds and creams, with accents of silver and white, completely transformed our home," says Judy Siegfried.

Working exclusively with Marcus Anast of the Sarasota Collection Home Store, Kleinkopf created custom furnishings for the living, family and dining rooms that personify the homeowners’ seaside lifestyle—glamorous yet comfortable, unassuming and the antithesis of beachy. "Tom and Judy love entertaining and wanted a formal dining room for elegant dinners," Kleinkopf says. "Now their guests dine with the bonus of endless water views."

Wedgwood blue walls, 1

, painted in Sherwin Williams’ Languid Blue, reflect the home’s 270-degree water views and complement the gold, cream, silver and white accents. Crisp white high-gloss enamel gives contemporary pop to elaborate moldings and ceiling medallion, 2, spray painted by Certa Pro Painters to complement a classic Venetian scroll mirror, 3, updated with pure white lacquer. The designer offset an extra long table with two Bella Luna chandeliers, 4, replete with ribbons of crystal beads that give the illusion of a soft sea spray, and see-through shades, 5, with custom blue and gold ribbon trim. The flawless exotic Peruvian wood dining table, 6, with Romanesque pedestals was produced by the Sarasota Collection Home Store to Kleinkopf’s custom specifications with two slide-in leaves that expand formal dinner seating to 10 guests. Asian influences recur in the clean-lined service buffet, 7, in the same espresso-toned wood as the dining table and chair legs for calming visual continuity. An ivory and Wedgwood zebra rug, 8, adds whimsy to perfectly color-coordinated, custom-designed, formal button-tufted dining chairs, 9—blue velvet for host and hostess; ivory for guests. A band of blue crystal beading, 10, defines the edges of Robert Allen fabric used for draperies designed to soften the room without covering the view. Custom ties over nickel medallions are folded for a unique top treatment.
