Art Seen

By ericg June 1, 2010

The late abstract painter David Budd attended Ringling College back in the 1940s. He worked in the circus to support himself while developing the style of his large, monochromatic canvases, painted with thousands of thick strokes. His artwork is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art; it can also be seen in a 40-year retrospective at Selby Gallery on the Ringling campus, June 25 through July 28. 359-7563.
