The Place: Siesta Key Oyster Bar (SKOB), 5238 Ocean Blvd. in Siesta Village; (941) 346-5443.

The Fare: SKOB is a classic, funky, totally laid-back beach bar with a great deck, party music, friendly servers and bartenders and moderate prices on both food and drink. We like it, too, because management takes a chance on local entrepreneurs, like the makers of Siesta Key rum and Jalehouse Light lager, giving them critical early exposure.

The Drill: SKOB is open every day until the wee hours, beginning at 11 a.m. weekdays. You get two cracks at happy hour prices, early on oysters and crawfish and late on drinks. We’re looking here at weekends, when SKOB opens at 9 a.m. to offer its Wake Up Call breakfast, which is available until noon.

The Bottom Line: The breakfast menu is diverse and well-priced, the food well-executed, prettily plated and cheerfully served. So far, so good. What makes it a particularly good deal is that the menu price includes your choice of two mimosas, two Bloody Marys or two screwdrivers. I ordered the top of the menu, crab cake Benedict, for $10. At most places that sum would just about cover the cost of the way tasty Bloodies I enjoyed. Colette ordered the Greek omelette for $9 and chose mimosas. We threw in a generous shared side of Appplewood smoked bacon for $2 and succeeded in running our bill for a really pleasant Sunday morning treat to $22.47, including tax and eye openers
