Killer Couple

Will the Asolo Repertory Theatre’s Broadway-bound production of Bonnie & Clyde, a new musical about that Depression-era duo by Frank Wildhorn, steal theatergoers’ (and critics’) hearts? There just may be a certain sneaky admiration out there right now for people who rob banks for a living. The season opening production runs Nov. 19 through Dec. 19 at the Mertz Theatre. 351-8000 or asolorep.org.

Krall Space

Singer-pianist Diana Krall turns every room she plays into an intimate cabaret; this month it’s the Van Wezel that falls under her spell. Krall will draw you in with her ardor, her expressive way with a lyric and her sultry sex appeal—that is, if you’re lucky enough to snag a ticket to her Nov. 20 performance, where she might breathe Brazilian with tunes from her latest, Quiet Nights. 953-3368 or vanwezel.org.

World of Film

The Sarasota Film Society celebrates 20 years of its Cine-World Film Festival this month, with downtown’s Burns Court Cinema promising to be packed with movie lovers eager to see the latest and greatest in international film. Count on hits from the recent Toronto Film Festival in the lineup, which will also include documentaries and some local films as well. Nov. 5-12; 364-8662 or 955-3456 or go to filmsociety.org.

Voices of Hope

Choral ensemble Key Chorale presents the regional premiere of James Whitbourn’s oratorio Annelies. This musical setting of the diaries of Anne Frank was well received in its London debut; the composer will be present at the concerts, which take place Nov. 6 and 7 at the Historic Asolo Theater. Soprano Kathy Pyeatt and musicians from the Sarasota Orchestra join the ensemble. For tickets, 360-7399 or 921-4845.
