Grill Crazy

Chef and restaurant consultant Judi Gallagher and her husband, Paul, head of Riverview High’s International Baccalaureate program, love the outdoor Florida lifestyle. "We float around the pool all summer and usually eat outside," she says. But for foodie Judi, a regular on ABC 7 and a contributing editor for Sarasota Magazine, their outdoor space wasn’t complete without a kitchen. So when they recently expanded their pool cage, they turned an open, under-roof area into an intimate kitchen/dining room, complete with floaty drapes, fridge and an infrared Solaire grill that heats up to1,800 degrees, like those in fine steakhouses. Most evenings, you’ll find them there, with their new rescue puppy, Norman, a basset/beagle/hound mix. Their go-to dinner? A chopped Greek salad (Paul packs the leftovers for lunch) topped with grilled chicken, shrimp, steak or duck breast and herbs fresh from their pots.
