What I’m Drinking - November 2011

By ericg November 1, 2011

When I think of the Sarasota Polo Grounds, I usually think of thundering hooves and that crazy little dance called the divot stomp. On Saturday, Nov. 12, though, I’ll be turning my thoughts to my own favorite recreation at the 10th annual Suncoast Food and Wine Fest, a charity fund raiser sponsored by the Lakewood Ranch Rotary Club. The event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. Tickets, available only in advance, are $60 per person, and wines will be offered for sale.

Organizers promise that more than 300 wines from home and abroad will be available for tasting, as will a selection of craft beers. Tidbits from 35 local restaurants, including standouts like Derek’s Culinary Casual and Michael’s On East, will be served. There will be cooking demonstrations, too, and every ticket holder will take home a festival wine glass and snack plate and be in the running to win a climate-controlled wine refrigerator.

For ticket information, call (941) 907-4154 or visit the event website at suncoastfoodandwinefest.com. The polo grounds are at 8201 Polo Club Lane in Lakewood Ranch.
