The Gallery Scene
Sarasota is home not only to our top 100 shops, but to a number of fine art galleries as well. Commercial galleries here sell an eclectic variety of work by local and national artists, and several noncommercial galleries (including Art Center Sarasota, Selby Gallery on the Ringling College campus, the Longboat Key Center for the Arts and, of course, the Ringling Museum of Art) also present exhibitions of media from painting to sculpture to photography to prints and more.
In addition, the artists’ colony of Towles Court, just west of U.S. 301 between Adams and Morrill streets, is worth a visit, especially during the neighborhood’s monthly gallery walks.
