Top 100 Luxury Retailers 2012

By Carol Tisch August 1, 2012

photo courtesy of the metThis year’s Platinum 100 list is brimming with new havens of retail luxury and longtime favorites, each helping to assure Sarasota’s reputation as headquarters for sublime Gulf Coast shopping. No city in the region can claim the creativity of Sarasota’s boutiques or the comprehensiveness of shops offering high-end globally sourced treasures. From hard-edged Italian couture to Bohemian-chic South African décor, our top retailers keep delighting and surprising shoppers.

Sarasota is especially remarkable for diamonds, cutting-edge shoes and trade-only furniture brands. And prices for some custom creations and fine goods are less than they would be in cities like New York.

In 2012, we unearthed dozens of new luxury retail concepts as well as shops within shops we already adored. To make the final cut, stores had to offer exceptional ambiance, exclusive wares, incomparable service—or all three. In addition to our 100 top shops, we also highlight fine galleries and automotive and yacht dealers. We hope you’ll use our list all year long, and share it with your guests as well. Shopping is an essential part of the Sarasota experience. Discover, fall in love and enjoy.
