The 2012-2013 Giving Register

By Hannah Wallace August 31, 2012

The 2012-2013 Giving Register: 290 Great Causes

Our annual register of local charities provides a glimpse of our community’s generous spirit, highlighting 286 organizations that provide aid, nourishment, shelter, guidance and inspiration, all to make our little corner of the world a better place.

This year, the bulk of our list reflects our new partnership with The Giving Partner, an online tool to help donors learn about local nonprofits overseen by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, the Gulf Coast Community Foundation, the Manatee Community Foundation and The Patterson Foundation. The organizations here (indicated by ) were among the very first nonprofits to go through The Giving Partner’s extensive submission process. You can read much more about them in their profiles on thegivingpartner.org.

Likewise, many of these nonprofits also use You’d Be Perfect for This, a project of the Gulf Coast Community Foundation linking local nonprofits with prospective volunteers. If you’re interested in rolling up your sleeves for a local cause, look for organizations with the YBPFT logo , and then go to youdbeperfectforthis.org to see what you can do.

Keep in mind, these are only some of the charities in an area blessed with thousands of 501c3 organizations. To all of them we say, thank you for your service, and keep up the good work.

(Our list includes all organizations with Giving Partner profiles completed or in-process on July 1, 2012.)

To learn more about The Giving Partner, visit thegivingpartner.org or contact Susie Bowie at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County ([email protected]); for more information about youdbeperfectforthis.org, contact Kelly Romanoff at the Gulf Coast Community Foundation ([email protected]).
