Here's a home with a perfect Florida lifestyle built right into it. Located on the Island of Venice with the Intracoastal boat traffic sailing right by, the estate—a main house and a separate guest house—is a short stroll from the shops and restaurants of downtown Venice. But it has a private, secluded feeling, with two entrances, enclosed gardens and a motor courtyard. It's hard to find this kind of space and luxury right in the middle of everything.

The home's style might best be described as high-quality informality. Built in 2001, it has a nice architectural interplay of angles and curves, with light streaming in through aquarium windows and high ceilings. The outdoor living area merges seamlessly with the indoors. There's even a tower room (accessible via elevator) with windows on all four sides. With its built-in bar and games galore, it's the ultimate hangout space, complete with two Murphy beds and a bath that turn it into an extra guest suite.

The main house also features a master bedroom with separate his-and-hers baths and room-sized closets. There's also an additional guest room. The detached guest house is self-contained, with a living room, bedroom, large living room and eat-in kitchen. The possibilities for accommodating visiting friends and relatives are endless.

Built by a prominent local businessman, the home epitomizes the easy luxury that makes Venice such an attractive alternative to Sarasota proper. The famous beach with all its shark's teeth is a short bike ride away, as are the jetty and its excellent fishing. The walk-to-town location is unique, along with the elaborate ponds, water features and outdoor entertaining spaces. It's a happy-looking house, perfect for fun with the extended family.
