The members of the Sarasota Lawn Bowling Club, the oldest sporting club in Florida, play a "unique sport" in a unique spot, says illustrator John Pirman. Seemingly oblivious to the bustle of downtown traffic, the players, who include an international mix of snowbirds during the winter season, practice their sport with "intense focus," rolling their balls across a perfectly manicured lawn, a tiny green oasis tucked between the busy North Trail and serene Sarasota Bay.
