Downtown and the Bay (ca 1960). This photograph overlooks downtown and extends out into the bay. In the top right corner is the Ringling Causeway Bridge, and the taller building closest to the bay is city hall, near Marina Jack's. The photo captures nicely the dual essence of Sarasota: businesses, beaches, and a small town feel in a metropolitan area.
