Siesta Key Residence: Contemporary West Indies

The Schimberg Group Inc.

(Slideshow)

This house defines the Spirit of Sarasota for two reasons:  1. Sarasota’s greatest treasures are its beaches and island atmosphere.  This building evokes the richness of island architecture from inside to out, connecting its residents to the environment.  It uses tropical materials and architectural details with windows throughout to always remind the homeowner where they live in Sarasota. 2. The Sarasota School of Architecture represents concepts of passive cooling, large overhangs, straight lines and light colors.  All of these components are integrated into the final design in a contemporary way to relate to that school of thought and the essense of the Sarasota School.
