When illustrator John Pirman stopped by to see the restoration of Sarasota High School, designed by Paul Rudolph in 1958, he took a walk under the canopy walkway Rudolph designed to connect the original building with his later addition. Pirman found the walkway as beautiful as it is practical. “It serves as protection from the elements and offers a surprising design of sculptural white intersecting concrete planes under the sunny Florida sky,” he says. “It’s a work of art.”
