Oscar-Nominated Costume Designer Julie Weiss to Appear at Ringling College
This Saturday, August 23, at 1 p.m., Oscar-nominated costume designer Julie Weiss, above, will appear at Ringling College of Art and Design’s Academic Center for a conversation about her illustrious career. A Hollywood veteran, Weiss has designed costumes for more than 50 feature films, including Frida and Twelve Monkeys (for which she was nominated for an Academy Award). Her work is currently on display at the Museum of Moving Image in New York. During the Ringling event, Weiss will show clips of the films she’s worked on and host an informal discussion with the audience. The public is invited to attend; Ringling College’s Academic Center is located at 2700 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. In the meantime, here are some examples of Weiss's work:
