In addition to battling the Covid-19 pandemic, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center has also been working to support organ, eye and tissue donation to patients in need. From April 2019 to October 2020, the center worked with Workplace Partnership for Life, a national initiative that partners the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Health Resources and Services Administration. The program educates hospital staff, patients and the community at large about the critical need for organ, eye and tissue donation, and patients and visitors are offered the chance to register as an organ donor. Lakewood Ranch Medical Center was one of 1,700 organizations to participate in the campaign, which added 59,662 new organ donors to state registries in the U.S. Organizations like LifeLink of Florida and Donate Life Florida worked with the center to add 151 donor registrations to the local roster.
