Kyle McCreight, an occupational therapist at Doctors Hospital of Sarasota, will compete on season 14 of American Ninja Warrior in honor of his dog, Tre. Two years ago, McCreight was going through a divorce and wanted to adopt a dog to take his mind off his personal struggle.

McCreig met Tre, a three-legged black lab, at Nate’s Honor Animal Rescue in Bradenton. The dog’s back leg had to be amputated because of a birth defect and veterinarians said he may never walk or run again. For two years, McCreight used his skills as an occupational therapist to work with Tre, and today the dog runs around the yard, chases squirrels and enjoys trips to the beach. Tre’s determination and story of survival inspired and motivated his owner to train and focus on his own physical health.
