This week: The Peachberry Cobbler at Carmel Kitchen

The drink: Vodka and triple sec with cherry simple syrup, muddled peaches, blueberries and strawberries, seasoned with cinnamon. The cinnamon is key here; it sets off the sweet-tart of the fresh fruit. The muddled blueberries are especially noticeable, both for flavor and texture—it’s a fun mouthfeel.

The bar: Warm atmosphere, wood and stone details highlighted by vibrant modern art. Carmel attracts an array of casual-to-upscale diners, from young families to groups of active retirees.

Food: Of course, Carmel has built its reputation around its Mediterranean-inspired food, including a big selection of small plates, perfect for snacking through cocktails or sitting down for a full dinner.  Check out the $5 happy hour menu, with sweet Thai chili calamari or whipped Capri Basil Feta Crostini.

Other notable potables: The fruit-centric, vodka-oriented specialty cocktail menu includes Lavender Lemonade and a pumpkin spice martini, as well as The Southside, a combo of gin, mint, lime and sprite.
