How did you two meet?

Cody and I actually went to elementary school together at Southside Elementary, but we didn’t really know each other back then. It wasn’t until we had both moved home from college and I signed up for his fitness class at Bath & Racquetthat I was hooked – on the workout and him!

How did the proposal happen? 

I decided to surprise Cody with a trip to California and an entry into the Big Sur Marathon for his Christmas present in 2014. We both ran it, and since he is a tad faster than I am, I knew he’d be at the finish line waiting for me.  What I didn’t know was that he would be waiting on one knee! He told me he couldn’t imagine life without me and asked me to marry him right there. I said yes! 

What were some of your favorite moments from the wedding? 

Cody reading his vows was by far my favorite moment of our entire wedding. He had me laughing and crying all within the same sentence.  I was so nervous, but hearing him talk made all my nerves disappear. My second favorite moment was when it was time for Cody to take off my garter. I swear my cheeks have never hurt so badly from laughing so hard from his dance moves and singing. I don’t think anyone will ever forget this moment from our wedding, whether they like it or not!

Do you have any advice for newlyweds?

Be willing to compromise! Cody and I luckily have similar taste and we love doing a lot of the same things. But sometimes those things don’t match up – and that’s OK! Both of us are willing to compromise with each other, and I think that saves us from a lot of unnecessary arguments.
