Season subscription packages to the Sarasota Concert Association’s 2019 Great Performers Series have been on sale for a while, but now single tickets are also available at the association’s website, www.scasarasota.org.

Classical music lovers have the opportunity to hear six different concerts this season, five of them at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall and one at Riverview Performing Arts Center. The association’s Great Performers Series is now in its 74th year.

Leading off the concert season will be piano duo Anderson & Roe—Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Joy Roe, performing Jan. 14. The program features Brahms’ Sonata for Two Pianos, Op. 34b; variations on a theme of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”; and their arrangement of the Beatles’ song, “Let It Be.”

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, under the direction of cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han, is next in the series, on Jan. 24. The Society’s program includes Brahms’ Quartet No. 3 in C Minor for Piano, Violin, Viola and Cello, Op. 60; Suk’s Quartet in A Minor for Piano, Violin, Viola and Cello, Op. 1; and Dvorak’s Quartet in E-flat Major for Piano, Violin, Viola and Cello, Op. 87.

Pianist Jeremy Denk

One of Europe’s top symphonic ensembles, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, performs next, with John Mauceri, conductor, leading the musicians on Smetana’s The Moldau from Ma Vlast, Bernstein’s Selection of Songs and Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9. That concert takes place Feb. 11.

Pianist Jeremy Denk, one of America’s foremost keyboard musicians, appears with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields on Feb. 21. On the program: Albinoni’s Concerto Op. 5, No. 5 in A minor; a new commission by British composer Sally Beamish; Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 14 in E-flat Major; Elgar’s Serenade for Strings; and Bartok’s Divertimento for String Orchestra.

The Pavel Haas Quartet

The Prague-based Pavel Haas Quartet performs (at the Riverview Performing Arts Center) on March 15. Hailed as “the world’s most exciting string quartet,” the ensemble consists of Veronika Jaruskova, Marek Zwiebel, Jiri Kabat and Peter Jarusek. Their program includes Shostakovich’s Quartet No. 7 in F-sharp Minor, Op. 108, and Quartet No. 8 in C Minor, Op. 110; and Beethoven’s Quartet in C Major, Op. 59, No. 3.

The final concert of the season features the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, April 3, under the baton of conductor JoAnn Falletta, with pianist Fabio Bidini. Audiences will hear Berlioz’s Roman Carnival Overture, Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2, and Prokofiev’s Selections from Romeo and Juliet.

All concerts take place at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call 225-6500, or visit the site at www.scasarasota.org.
