Frequent WBTT performer Sheldon Rhoden will be joined by other company entertainers for the online April Fools Fete.

April Fools Day came and went without the usual fund-raising party to support Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe, but the company is now planning to present its twice-postponed (due to COVID-19) April Fools Fete virtually, with an online recorded program of WBTT entertainers—and, if you like, a Michael’s On East meal to boot.

“An Evening with Sheldon Rhoden & Friends,” a 75-minute recorded program featuring the frequent WBTT performer and fellow familiar faces Ariel Blue, Michael Mendez, Raleigh Mosely II and Jai Shanae, will be available online from 7 p.m. Thursday, May 21, through 10 p.m. Monday, May 25. The program will include a selection of soul classics, featuring hits like “Pride and Joy,” “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “How Sweet It Is to Be Loved by You.”

Cost to access the program is $50 per household (all of that tax-deductible) and proceeds benefit WBTT’s education programs. A packaged picnic meal from Michael’s—country fried chicken, a jumbo lump meat crab cake, truffle mac & cheese, roasted rosemary potatoes, chopped salad, cornbread and apple crisp—is available for those wanting some comfort food with their show, for an additional cost of $39.95 a person. The meal needs to be ordered by 5 p.m. May 19 and picked up between 3 and 5 p.m. May 21; call MOE’s Ann Marie Grew at (845) 863-4429 to order.
