Thanks to the pandemic, the United States has plunged from a economic expansion into a severe recession. On Nov. 12, former Federal Reserve Bank of New York president and CEO William C. Dudley will speak about the choices we need to make to reverse that trend and secure the country's economic future. The event is part of New College of Florida's "New Topics" series; registration is required and can be made here, or by calling the New College events hotline at (941) 487-4888.

Dudley is a senior research scholar at the Griswold Center for Economic Policy Studies at Princeton University. He also is a member of the Group of Thirty and the Council on Foreign Relations. From 2009 to 2018, Dudley was the 10th president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and served as vice-chairman of the Federal Open Market Committee. During this period, he was a member of the board of directors of the Bank for International Settlements and chaired the Committee on Payment and Settlement Systems and the Committee on the Global Financial System. Before he became president of the New York Fed, Dudley served as executive director of the bank’s Markets Group, which implements monetary policy on behalf of the Federal Reserve. Earlier, he had a long career in the financial services industry, including 10 years as chief U.S. economist at Goldman Sachs, where he was a partner and managing director. Dudley received his doctorate in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and his bachelor’s degree from New College of Florida.
