Jan W. Pitchford is a partner at Shumaker, one of the largest business law firms on the west coast of Florida, and she is the Real Estate and Development Regional Service Line Leader for the firm's Sarasota office. She earned her B.S. from Florida State University, summa cum laude, and her J.D., with honors, from Rutgers School of Law. Jan also serves on the Sarasota County Value Adjustment Board and volunteers as a Mentor in the Faces of Accomplishment Program.

Board Certified as a Real Estate Specialist by the Florida Bar since 1991, her reputation as an industry leader is exemplified by her recent induction as a member of the Lambda Alpha International Land Economics Society. Induction in this group is reserved for those who have built a compelling reputation of significant contribution to the field of land economics.

Jan represents individual and corporate clients in connection with the acquisition, development, construction, and financing of residential and commercial real estate projects.

Outside of her legal practice, Jan is an avid runner. She has completed over 19 marathons since 2009 and is set to run her 20th in Longford, Ireland this August!
