Since the abrupt closing of Polo Grill and Bar last April, there has been a significant hole in Lakewood Ranch’s Main Street dining scene. Restaurateurs Hugh Miller and Greg Campbell, the team behind Bradenton's Pier 22, are set to take over the space, with plans to redo the massive restaurant and ballroom and open a new restaurant, Grove.

Miller and Campbell hope to bring a new brand of modern American food to Main Street.

"With these changes, we're creating an entirely different ambiance,” said Miller, according to a press release. “One that embodies an elevated and modern ranch-town vibe and that really fits the diverse market we’ll serve."

Seating in the dining room and patio areas are expected to accommodate over 350 guests. With three private dining areas—each of which can be configured to seat 20, 40 or 60 people—and the separate ballroom space, the entire building can seat over 750 guests.

Grove's menu will feature modern American cooking with an emphasis on locally sourced products and high-quality ingredients.

"At Grove, we'll be riffing on the idea that dining out should be a means to positive well-being,” said Campbell, according to the release. “We want guests to leave the restaurant with a smile on their face and feeling even better than when they first arrived.”
