Celebrate Oktoberfest With These Fun Events

Oktoberfest is a German celebration filled with food, beer and good company. Here's what locals are doing to celebrate.

Bigtoberfest at Big Top Brewing Company

from 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, enjoy traditional the märzen beer Bigtoberfest in cans and on draft, plus a selection of German food. The singer Twinkle will perform live from 7 to 10 p.m. Admission is free.

Oktoberfest at Edelweiss

From Wednesday, Oct. 7 through Sunday, Oct. 11, eat authentic food at this German restaurant and drink beer and yodel at the restaurant’s outdoor event. Live entertainment, contests and giveaways available, too. Admission is free.

Oktoberfest Beer Walk in Downtown Venice

Running from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, this beer walk will provide attendees with a map of beer tasting locations as they walk down Main Street. Drink a variety of brews in three-ounce tastings. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online, or at Venice Main Street’s Office, 101 W. Venice Ave., Suite 23, Venice. Tickets can also be purchased the day of the event at 5 p.m. at the kiosk in Centennial Park.

Sarasota Oktoberfest

Starting on Friday, Oct. 16, and running through Sunday, Oct. 18, this festival will feature seasonal brews, traditional and local live music, beer games and classic Bavarian food. Crafts and products sold at the marketplace booths. Admission is free.

Celtoberfest at Motorworks Brewing

Drink beer and wear your kilt to this clash of Celtic and Bavarian cultures, which starts on Friday, Oct. 16, and ends Sunday, Oct. 18. Motorworks partnered with New World Celts to offer Celtic-style food, beer and onsite vendors. Live entertainment will provided by local bands. The event is family- and dog-friendly. Early bird tickets are $8 per day and standard pricing is $10 per day. Order tickets online at celtoberfest.org.
