Starting next week, dozens of restaurants will begin serving special signature dishes as part of Original Eats, a two-week-long event organized by the Sarasota-Manatee Originals, a group of more than 60 local restaurants. From Friday, Jan. 15, through Sunday, Jan. 31, each participating eatery will serve a unique item that will be priced at $20 or less. Dishes include both appetizers and entrées.

The goal of the program, which is being sponsored by the restaurant supplier Boar's Head, is to highlight the variety of cuisine in the area and to encourage customers to order from local, independent restaurants. You can find a list of participating restaurants on the Originals' website. The organization expects more eateries to join the effort, as well.
