Thursday, July 1, will mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of Sarasota County. To celebrate that milestone, the restaurants that are part of Gecko’s Hospitality Group are partnering with Sarasota's Big Top Brewing Company to serve a limited-edition Centennial Lager.

The beer is made with a pink grapefruit infusion. In a press release, Big Top head brewer Jose Martinez described the beer as “a smooth, refreshing and crisp lager with a noble aroma on the nose." The label features a collage of vintage images of Sarasota. The beer will be available in all Gecko's restaurants beginning Monday, June 7. Six-packs of the beer will be available to buy from the restaurants, as well.

A portion of each sale of the beer will be donated to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Charitable Foundation, a nonprofit that supports Sheriff's Office employees in need. Gecko's co-owner Mike Quillen called the effort "an active way to demonstrate the respect and support we hold for our law enforcement who have provided the invisible shield to keep our families and our community safe for a century."
