Prepare your eyes, ears and tastebuds for brunch and a show as Bijou Garden Café debuts the first of its Broadway Brunch series this Sunday, June 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The café, which is located conveniently in the center of downtown Sarasota's theater and arts district, is the ideal spot to host this Broadway-inspired brunch.

"Our patrons have been asking for us to bring brunch back to the restaurant, and doing it with Broadway music feels like the right way,” executive chef Chris Covelli said in a press release.

And there's no one better to lead the charge for a raucous afternoon of singing and dancing than beloved Sarasota drag icon Beneva Fruitville.

“Beneva is the perfect person to kick off this Broadway Brunch series,” said Bijou co-owner Sharon Carole. “June is Pride Month and we want to celebrate our vibrant LGBTQ+ community.”

Fruitville, who has an extensive local and national stage career, will perform songs from cabaret, film and Broadway as she accompanies herself at the piano. (Some people really can do it all.)

Alongside the show, guests will have a variety of brunch options to choose from including eggs Benedict and quiche, as well as light salads and lunch items. Just eat carefully so you're to be prepared for when Fruitville inevitably cracks a hilarious—and likely inappropriate—joke.

Bijou Garden Café is currently accepting reservations for Broadway Brunch with Beneva. For more information call (941) 366-8111 or visit its website.
