The protection of Ballet history is something near and dear to the heart of The Sarasota Ballet, particularly so for its Director Iain Webb and Assistant Director Margaret Barbieri who had the pleasure and honor to have worked with Sir Frederick Ashton and danced many of his ballets. It is for this reason that on April 30, The Sarasota Ballet will begin their four-day Ashton Festival commemorating not only the 25th Anniversary of his death, but also celebrating his life and the amazing diversity of his choreographic repertoire. For opening and closing night of the Festival the performances will be accompanied by the Sarasota Orchestra and in addition to this, on closing night The Sarasota Ballet will be reprising their critically acclaimed performance of Ashton’s ‘Les Patineurs,’ which earned them the ‘title’ of the ‘Jewel of Ballet Across America III.’ Individual tickets start at $20.
